Founder & Consulting Winemaker
1983 marked the start of Stuart Pym’s impressive winemaking career in Margaret River, first at his family winery, then later at Vasse Felix, Voyager Estate and Devil’s Lair. He’s also worked vintages at TarraWarra Estate (Yarra Valley), Domaine de Chevalier (Bordeaux) and Domaine de la Solitude (Bordeaux).
In 2000 Stuart and his winemaking partner Janice McDonald started Stella Bella Wines, with the vision of creating wines that were truly unique, reflective of their creativity and vast global experiences. The first Stella Bella wines to be released included a frizzante Pink Muscat and a Sangiovese Cabernet Sauvignon inspired by the Super Tuscan blends. From there, the range expanded to include the more ‘classic’ varieties and blends that Margaret River has become globally recognised for, as well as a handful of newer, unique styles.
Today, with 26 Margaret River vintages under his belt, Stuart has the role of Consulting Winemaker at Stella Bella Wines, assisting Senior Winemaker Luke Jolliffe with all wines under the Stella Bella, Suckfizzle and Skuttlebutt brands.
In his spare time, Stuart expends his energies chasing his Irish Wolfhounds Poppy & Lucille, playing guitar in local band “il Fiasco” and pursuing his love of good wine!
