OUR PHILOSOPHY

Our Goal

We don’t make “Margaret River wine”.

We make Southern Margaret River wine.

Stella Bella was born in the southernmost corner of Margaret River – where the Indian and Southern Oceans meet. Cooler temperatures, naturally controlled ripening, crisp sea breezes and ancient ironstone soils give our wines their signature clarity, perfume and tension.

Everything starts in the vineyard – Vine by vine, bunch by bunch.

We farm sustainably, focusing on biodiversity, soil health and site expression. From regenerative practices to wild ferments and minimal intervention, our role is to guide – not overpower – what nature gives us.

We make wines for the moments that matter.

From Skuttlebutt’s vibrant, everyday drinkability to the single-vineyard icons of Luminosa and Suckfizzle, Stella Bella wines are made to be opened, shared and remembered. Quiet nights in. Long lunches. Moments worth celebrating. Same philosophy – exceptional wine, made to be enjoyed.

Quietly one of Australia’s most awarded  producers.

Viticulture Philosophy

Stella Bella’s five distinctive vineyards are located throughout southern Margaret River. An area of the region we choose for its cool climate and ability to produce elegant, aromatic and medium bodied wines with personality and precision.

Our farming practices aim to improve soils and maintain vine health. This gives us the ability to make subtle changes, responding to the season and surrounding environment. Creating fruit that reflects the climate, soil and character of southern Margaret River.

In the pursuit of vine balance, we use respectful techniques such as organic fertilisers, mid-row cropping, spring plantings of buckwheat and minimal chemical inputs. To help with nutrient cycling and encourage beneficial insect species throughout the vineyard.

Winemaking Philosophy

Our committed and passionate team ensure our wines receive meticulous attention to detail and care from the vineyard to the bottle. Our approach to winemaking is based upon respect for the diversity of our five vineyards. Our philosophy is to respect the varietal characteristics of the fruit to craft regionally expressive wines. Each parcel of fruit is vinified separately to preserve its individuality. Winemaking techniques are utilised to enhance the varietal aromas, flavours, textures and create unique blending components.

This allows us to taste, contemplate and classify our wines according to their style and quality. With our white wines our emphasis is on bright aromatics, palate texture, mineral acidity and pure elegance. With our red wines we aim for intensely perfumed wines, great flavour concentration and supple cocoa powder tannins that leave your palate salivating for another glass.
